Introduction to the Catechism of the Catholic Church
This course introduces the history of catechisms and the purpose and origins of the Catechism. Each of its four ‘pillars’ (Creed, Sacraments, Life in Christ, and Prayer) are described, and a general orientation to accessing the Catechism for personal and teaching applications is presented.
New Testament
This course focuses on the literature, theology, and history of the New Testament. Jesus’ question, addressed to his disciple, “Who do you say that I am?” provides the center of New Testament studies and the grounding for all theology, as well as our relationship with Him.
Church History
This course will examine the rich tradition of the Catholic Church as it grew through the centuries. Special emphasis will be given to the manner in which doctrines developed as well as more controversial periods in the life of the Church.
Philosophy for Theology
A historical survey of fundamental positions, methods, and concepts that have a special bearing on the development of Christian/Catholic theology. This course is designed to make philosophy accessible to everyone by connecting it to the Faith.
Introduction to Catholic Doctrine
This course examines the core beliefs of Roman Catholics as expressed in the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed. These and other Catholic beliefs will be explored in the context of Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, as witnessed by the Magisterium.
Catechetical Youth Ministry
This course introduces the participants to the essential elements of effective youth ministry and catechesis. It is a practical, down-to-earth course, exploring various learning models and strategies for comprehensive ministry.
Christ and the Church
This is a study of Jesus Christ as He is known through Tradition, Scripture and the history of the councils. Christ is studied as true God and true man, as the second person of the Trinity, and in His mission on earth which is fulfilled in the Church.
Fundamentals of Apologetics
This Course is intended to equip the learner with the tools necessary not only to defend the faith but to properly spread the faith. The knowledge to defend certain doctrines is useless without the ability to see the issues in a bigger picture. Fundamentals of Apologetics is intended to teach how to defend God, Christ and the Church, but also how to most effectively bring about conversion in those with whom we speak. We are to win souls not just arguments.
Christian Vocations
This is a general understanding of the human person as presented in the Theology of the Body, and progressing to how we are each called first to holiness then to our vocation. This course is designed not only to have a better understanding of the religious vocations but of all vocations so as to have a proper disposition to both discern and to live out our vocations.
Christian Morality
In order to call ourselves Christians, we must act as Christians. The Church teaches a great many things and of those things one of the greatest treasure is that of Morality. Teaching everything from simple natural law to forming our conscience according to truth, this course is a good hard look at the splendid moral truths of the Church and how through these truths we may live a more, joyous, happy, free, and holy life.
